Dear all,
We have had a long standing subscription to Media and Technology Digest (previously Screen Digest) published by IHS Technology Ltd. Our sub was through Swets and after their demise when we tried to take out a new subscription we were told that the publisher no longer worked with agents and required us to go direct.
The only online version is for a downloadable PDF so we opted for the print version only. The publisher however requires a licence agreement to be signed before they process the subscription. The license type is "Enterprise Wide License - Divisional" which essentially restricts our use of the print material so that it may not leave the library.
Has anyone else come across this before? It's the first time I've ever heard of a licence requirement for print only material. Is such a thing legally enforceable? If we agree to sign are we setting some kind of precedent?
Be grateful to hear what the community thinks.
