As you know, the GPES IAG closes on 30th June, and its functions are
supposed to be taken over by two bodies -SCCI (Standardisation Committee for
Care Information) and a new body to relace DAAG, IGARD (Independent Group
Advising on Release of Data)
The consultation on the Terms of Reference for IGARD is now open, and it
closes on 31st August.
The consultation itself is available at the following link:
https://consultations.infostandards.org/hscic/igard A copy of the draft
Terms of Reference can be found on the DAAG page of our website:
http://www.hscic.gov.uk/daag
Please note that the consultation will close on 31 August, so any responses
should be submitted prior to that date.
I cannot find any mention of any GPES IAG functions in it - but considering
that GPES IAG only considered the requests for the information as part of
the the process of deciding whether the extraction should proceed and if so
whether there were any comments or considerations to be taken into account
prior to extraction, this might not be surprising....
Have a look at the proposed membership, including the subject matter
expertise on offer.
And when you get requests for data extractions in the future, please make
sure that you understand who - if anyone - has provided any independent
scrutiny of the application for data: unless the SCCI and IGARD (and CAG)
change their publication plans, you will find it very difficult to find the
actual applications which have been approved (unlike the GPES IAG procedures
where the Customer Requirements, Benefits plans and IG Assessments are/were
all published in full)
PS I am not sure how the changes in care.data for the Pathfinders will be
managed during the hiatus between the end of the IAG and the implementation
of the new systems, nor whether IGARD will be involved in any way in the
release of care.data data from HSCIC : in the NHS England Board Papers for
29th May, the data set already approved was referenced with a note that it
would be changed befor the new Direction was issued.
