Dear Colleagues,
I'm looking for some assistance in accessing EU/EC data on irregular migration from 1991 to 2008.
In 2009 Frontex Risk Analysis Unit (FRAN) took over irregular migration data collection from Centre for Information, Discussion and Exchange on the Crossing of Frontiers and Immigration (CIREFI). CIREFI collected data from member states from 1994 to 2009 on asylum, migration, borders control, and other Justice & Home Affairs policy areas. While this is stated in a number of publications and by Frontex I've been unable to locate the raw data.
Would anyone know where I can access this data?
In addition, EUROSTAT data on "Enforcement of Migration Legislation" (migr_eil), i.e. refusal of entry at borders, returns, etc., is only available from 2008.
Would anyone know where I can access earlier data, i.e. 1991-2007?
I would be happy to collaborate with a colleague to publish or otherwise disseminate the data set.
Alternatively, does anyone know of a comprehensive, reliable data set on the issue?
