Welcome to the DiRAC users mailing list!
The list is set up for the 'users' of the VO, and I suggest that we now
use this for communication instead of private email so the next set of
DiRAC users can read the archive and gain wisdom from it...
0. There are currently three lists: management, users, and security (as
required by EGI). This (the users) list is inaugurated with Jeremy Coles
(GridPP/not-RAL :-)), Brian Davies (GridPP/RAL), Lydia Heck
(DiRAC/Durham), and myself (GridPP/RAL) on it. All lists should be
discoverable via the standard JISCMAIL mechanisms.
1. Current status: as of the end of last week (Friday 12th), RAL now
(finally) has the SRM endpoint set up: it consists of a hostname
srm-dirac.gridpp.rl.ac.uk as well as the relevant information in the
BDII lcgbdii01.gridpp.rl.ac.uk. The side effect of this is that ops is
now testing the DiRAC SRM endpoint.
2. Brian has run a few 'manual' tests last week (which did not rely on
the BDII); whether he has run the full FTS is not clear (he's on leave
this week), so I aim to test it myself.
3. The EGI VO has not yet been set up - the request was submitted but it
appears to not have been approved yet. Note that the requested name is
'vo.dirac.ac.uk' according to the more recent conventions so you need to
look under 'v' and not under 'd'.
http://operations-portal.egi.eu/vo/search
This does not hinder any of the other stuff we need to do.
4. However, the VO _is_ in gstat:
http://gstat2.grid.sinica.edu.tw/gstat/vo/vo.dirac.ac.uk/
There isn't a huge amount to see yet.
5. In my notes on the purpose of the VO to EGI I wrote that the purposes
are those of DiRAC itself as well as the collaboration between GridPP
and DiRAC (ie moving data). Whether we want to separate those activities
later is an open question but since DiRAC has been working happily
without the GridPP/EGI stuff I think we don't need to - presumably we
will use the lists mostly for the latter activity but it does not
preclude using the grid for 'undiluted' DiRAC purposes as well.
Thanks
