Job particulars -
Director, Institute for Research on Culture and the Creative Industries
University of Hull - Research and Enterprise
Closing Date: Thursday 18 June 2015
The University has created a new Institute for Research on Culture and the Creative Industries and intends to appoint a foundation Director who will be the University’s Professor of Cultural Policy. The Director will be a researcher of international stature with a strong record of academic leadership, with a body of published research, the ability to generate external research income and to lead institutional development. The City of Hull is UK City of Culture, 2017, and the University is the exclusive academic partner for City of Culture 2017. The Institute will be responsible for delivering the formal evaluation of the impact of City of Culture. The Director will therefore be a key participant in crafting the University’s contribution to this transformative event, and will be expected to design and to take responsibility for delivering a world class programme of research related to City of Culture 2017 and – beyond that – to the impact of investment in culture and to cultural policy. The creation and establishment of the Institute is intended to be one of the legacies to the University that will come from City of Culture, providing a long-term base for research in cultural policy and the social and economic impact of the cultural and creative industries, and ensuring that the University is recognised internationally for the quality of its research in these areas. The Director will be expected to develop ambitious and deliverable plans for the growth and development of the Institute.
Informal enquiries can be made by contacting Professor Peter Young ([log in to unmask]; 01482 465787) or Professor Glenn Burgess, Deputy Vice Chancellor ([log in to unmask]).
