Dear colleagues,
Due to the fantastic response we have had to #ECSA55 we have EXTENDED the early bird registration deadline till Friday the 26th June.
Join us to discuss issues of outstanding scientific importance in the science and management of estuaries and coasts. We have world-renowned invited speakers (http://www.estuarinecoastalconference.com/conference-speakers.html) and Special Sessions convened by experts from around the world (http://www.estuarinecoastalconference.com/special-session.html).
It is going to be a fantastic conference – don’t miss out! Register here: http://www.estuarinecoastalconference.com/conference-speakers.html
Best wishes,
Sally

ECSA 55 - Unbounded boundaries and shifting baselines: Estuaries and coastal seas in a rapidly changing world, from the 6-9 September 2015 in London, UK.
ECSA 55 will bring together a global multi-disciplinary community of researchers and professionals to discuss and address issues of outstanding scientific importance in the science and management of estuaries and coastal seas. The symposium will focus on learning lessons from the past, discussing the current and forecasting for the future, spanning environmental, anthropogenic and climatic impacts on estuaries and coastal seas across the globe.
Oral and poster abstracts are invited on the following conference topics and invited special sessions.
- People and coasts through time.
- Biology and ecology of coastal and estuarine systems: evolution, adaptation and shifting baselines.
- Physical and chemical processes in estuaries and coasts: geochemical, sedimentary, hydrodynamic and geomorphological change.
- Interactions between biological, geochemical and physical processes: fluxes and functions.
- Valuing estuaries and coasts: Shifting social, economic and cultural perspectives.
- Managing challenges: Working towards resilient and sustainable coasts and estuaries.
- Estuaries and coasts in the future: Prediction and adaptation.
- The challenges of heavily modified, industrialised megacity estuaries.
Special Sessions:
- Creating space for coastal change: sustainability, challenges and successes
- Ecogeomorphology of estuarine systems
- Environmental management of enclosed coastal seas. EMECS SPONSORED
- Estuaries of the world: comparing estuarine ecosystem functioning and management
- Estuarine restoration: from restoring habitats to delivering ecosystem services?
- Everyone is involved in risk assessment and risk management, so how do we achieve good status of transitional and marine waters?
- From rock pool to regional sea – can coordinated multi-scale, multi-pressure monitoring, protect the marine environment?
- How to proceed with analysing, assessing and judging environmental, social, economic and integral networks?
- Long-term monitoring to record change in coastal and transitional waters: what to learn from existing monitoring and data analysis
- Looking back to see forward: long-term perspectives on coastal change
- Modelling of hydrodynamics and sediment transport in estuaries
- Physical, ecological and chemical process interactions in coastal wetlands
- The role of estuaries and coastal waters in energy generation
- Urban sprawl in the marine environment
