Hi - we are broadly the same as Lisa-Marie for widespread POCT equipment - Medical Engineering have no/very little input.
Kind regards

Hi,
Medical Engineering have no input into the selection of POCT devices in our Trust as they have no involvement in the maintenance of POCT equipment (apart from tinkering with urinalysis analysers).
Where there are multiple options / manufacturers available for a type of device, we involve end users in the scoring process. We also seek the opinion of our infection control team and take advice from them where applicable.
It may then come down to finance having the last say ........

Can I just ask how much input medical engineering departments have to the choice of POCT equipment in your hospitals?
Is it a combined choice between the two departments, purely POCT or do medical engineering have the final say?
We are having discussions around what is the best way forward and I wanted to see what happens elsewhere.

Theresa
