Following our excellent performance in the Research Excellence Framework (REF2014) assessment (where our Research Intensity was ranked sixth among UK Geography Units), Geography and Environment, part of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, is now inviting applications for a Professor/Associate Professor of Human Geography. Of particular interest are candidates with an international reputation of research excellence who can complement and expand existing research areas within the Economy, Governance, Culture Research Group: http://www.southampton.ac.uk/geography/research/groups/economy_society.page.
You will be expected to provide research leadership, mentorship to junior colleagues, and to contribute fully to both undergraduate and graduate teaching. Geography and Environment has buoyant undergraduate student recruitment and excellent NSS scores. Current research within Geography and Environment has a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary initiatives and connects with social science Research Centres at Southampton (such as the Centre for Citizenship, Globalisation, and Governance, the Centre for Transnational Studies, the Administrative Data Research Centre, and the Work Futures Research Centre). Our excellent reputation in Human Geography has been reinforced by a series of recent appointments and we are now seeking a new hire with research interests that will enhance the Group’s existing specialisms and connect with those in other Research Groups within the Department, Faculty and more widely within the University.
Salary and level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
