Clare Hall College, University of Cambridge, and the Art Committee are delighted to invite you to attend the Clare Hall Special Lecture, to be held on the evening of on Friday, 5th June, 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m., at Richard Eden Suite, West Court, Herschel Road, Cambridge, CB3 9AL.
Sir Charles Chadwyck-Healey will speak on the topic “The power of the Image in Liberated France, 1944-1946”.
Sir Charles Chadwyck-Healey, member of the Executive Board of the World Oral Literature Project and president of Cambridge Rivers Project, University of Cambridge, will talk about the unique collection of more than 600 books, cartoons, magazines and photographs which he has donated to Cambridge University Library and formed the core material for the international exhibition ‘Literature of the Liberation: The French Experience in Print 1944-1946’ (www.cam.ac.uk/research/news/literature-of-the-liberation-cambridge-exhibition-a-world-first).
The event begins at 6:00p.m., with the Lecture and Q&A starting finishing at 7:15p.m. It will be followed by a reception from 7.15p.m. until 8:00pm.
