AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL EXPLORATION OF THE OPEN-SOURCING OF URBAN WORLDS
Spain’s Ministry of Economy shall open its annual call for PhD funding
shortly.
Our research project, “Ecologies in beta: an anthropological exploration of
the open-sourcing of urban worlds
<http://digital.csic.es/bitstream/10261/116329/1/memoria%20cientifica%20reto
s%20140922.pdf> ” has been awarded one PhD fellowship. The project will be
launching later this year and will run until 2018.
We are now looking for candidates interested in doing their doctoral
research with us. In order to apply candidates must be enrolled for doctoral
work at a Spanish university in a social sciences (anthropology, STS,
sociology) programme. (Please bear in mind that to enrol in a PhD programme
in Spain you need to have your undergraduate degree sanctioned as
“equivalent” to Spanish degrees by local authorities – this takes time.)
The annual salary for a PhD fellow is set at c. €16,500. You can find
further information on the terms of the call and the paperwork to submit in
last year’s call

note that we link here to last year’s call for guidance only – actual terms
may vary once this year’s call is published.
If you have read our research proposal (here
<http://digital.csic.es/bitstream/10261/116329/1/memoria%20cientifica%20reto
s%20140922.pdf> ) and found it of interest, we invite you to send us an
expression of interest (no more than 500 words) outlining how you see your
research interests and background fit with the project. Please enclose a
copy of your CV (2 pages max.). Deadline for submission of the expression of
interest and CV is June 17.
The PhD fellow will join us at the Department of the History of Science
<https://www.facebook.com/historiadelacienciacsic?fref=ts> at Spain’s
National Research Council in Madrid under the supervision of Alberto Corsín
Jiménez <http://alberto-corsin-jimenez.org/> .
We look forward to hearing from you.
