Hi Zeno,
Not a library as such, but more of a PHP script that consumes data using the /publication feed, stores it in a local database (we ‘re not allowed to ping the live PURE server during office hours), which is then retrieved and presented on demand within an iframe. A combination of the need to download all data, cover various University websites and their requirements and limited resources due to our new CMS development has not progressed this as much as we want to, but we have a set of requirements to develop enhancements after the CMS development ends, as there is a big demand for reusable full academic profiles.
I ‘ve written a blog post about it: http://website-programme-blog.is.ed.ac.uk/embedding-pure-information-on-your-website/, but it’s mainly aimed to editors wanting to use the widget and not to developers. You can get an idea though.
To my knowledge, other people around the University have done their own implementations using the Drupal feeds plugin, within Wordpress or by writing bespoke PHP code (as we did). The main difference is that their implementations is filtering data per researcher, research group, school etc. so less effort in downloading the full dataset.
Cheers,
