Dear Jisc Members,
I have just completed a MOOC on Drugs and Addiction with Future Learn (a group of universities),
the course was over 6 weeks with a 4 hour commitment per week, the course is split into small sections so you can do a bit at a time,
while they encourage you to keep up, because there is some 'blogging' work within your course community, I was behind a few times but was easily able to catch up, and the blogs remain open and there are others a bit behind too...
I would certainly recommend that you check out their site / courses: https://www.futurelearn.com/
On your web page there is a progress summary (attached) with some reflection I am sure this would meet the revalidation requirements,
but they also have 2 options for certification 1 for participation (after completion of 50% with assessments - about£34)or post exam (£119) with local centres.
Good Luck
Campbell (via NHS web mail)

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] CIPD website and MOOCs REVALIDATION
It seems to be getting more difficult to get funding for training and that
could be a significant issue for the NMC revalidation process. There is a
new initiative called Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) they are free to
access and offered by some high profile international universities including
Harvard. I have enrolled on a statistics course to see how it works. I have
also found one on epidemiology which I plan to enrol on eventually and
complete during the summer holidays.
LSBU are offering three MOOCs 1. mental health 2 researching army nurses
3. the deteriorating patient unsure what they cover as I have not been
involved in their development and havenıt reviewed them. From what I have
seen they look like they could be interesting.
One of the links below gives an overview of the MOOCs at LSBU, the other is
a link to the course.
