Hi Richard,
You might like to consider the Getty GCI/World Monuments Fund developed Arches Software. Which would save you the trouble of building a database from scratch.
Arches has been specifically designed for the inventorization of cultural heritage and allows for the creation of geospatially reference monuments alongside the people who created them and the images, documents and events associated with them. More information can be found at http://archesproject.org/

Subject: Database build for cultural project
Dear All,
I would like to invite expressions of interest from companies or individuals interested and qualified to build a database of projects undertaken by a leading early 20th Century architect.
The trust responsible for the architect’s legacy has been collecting information about projects and organising these offline in a Filemaker Pro database. This will need to be migrated into a new online database.
I will be project managing the design and build of a new online database to be accessed privately by trustees and searchable by the public.
Each of the architect’s projects will have a set of data including images and map references.
Some data fields will require the use of controlled vocabularies.
I would like the public database to be integrated with a Wordpress website which I recently designed and built.
Please email me off-list if you would like to be considered for the project, including a link to your website and any examples of similar cultural projects undertaken.
Thanks and best wishes,
Richard Wilding
