Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Spatial Statistics and Mathematical Epidemiology in the Biostatistics Unit of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. The position is linked to an ERC advanced grant that is aiming to develop Bayesian models for very large, multivariate, non-Gaussian, geostatistical and temporal data arising from disparate sources to address epidemiological questions in the area of infectious diseases in Africa.
Required qualifications of the successful candidates are 1) PhD degree in statistics, biostatistics or mathematics with strong research experience in Bayesian modelling, Markov chain Monte Carlo simulation methods, spatio-temporal modelling and/or stochastic epidemic modelling 2) strong programming skills in R, C++ and/or Fortran and 3) ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
The position is available immediately however a later starting date is possible by negotiation.
