We invite applications for a Research Fellow and a Research Assistant post for a housing project at Northumbria University.
Successful candidates will support the project, 'Development of Incremental SI (Structure and Infill) Housing for Low-income Population in Malaysia' which will be supported by Newton Fund Institutional Link Grant. Unlike other research projects, this is an actual building project; we aim to construct affordable housing in Johor area in Malaysia, and you will have a chance to develop and apply theoretical ideas on open building in the real world. Working within the international context, you can gain wider knowledge and experience on global construction and design market.
Research Fellow (Fixed-term for 1 year with salary £33,242)
Candidates for Research Fellow must have a PhD degree or equivalent professional experience that is related to the design, development or construction of flexible housing, modular housing or other similar types of building with an 'open building' concept. Your duties will include but not limited to data analysis, architectural design, component development in collaboration with other experts in the building industry in the UK and Malaysia. Research Assistant (Part-time, fixed-term for 1 year, with salary £21,379 pro rata)
Candidates for Research Assistant must have an undergraduate or graduate level degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering, and be able to understand and draw architectural drawings by using 2D and 3D graphic software. You will have opportunities to collaborate with other experts in the building industry in the UK and Malaysia. This vacancy closes at 12 noon on 8th June 2015.
