Subject: Buttons
Buttons
bridge gaps
pull together sides
that would otherwise gape
Buttons
seem more
analog than slick
zips with their metal hurtle
Buttons
must obey
gender alignment
keeping right for gents
inserting at left
pressed by manly
thumbs while lady buttons
require reverse digital homing
Buttons
some believe
crossed over so right-
handed maids could do up
their mistresses
more efficiently but
perhaps they migrated
to help fumbling male lovers
An undone
button cools,
entices, enables,
refastens untraceably.
Buttons
strain, even
pop but re-cottoned,
resume their enclosing ways.
