Dear Occ Health Team,
I am new to this site but i already have a question that i will appreciate your thoughts on and thank you in advance.
The scenario is final with main points but has been fully disguised to avoid recognition of anyone and as such no no further questions will be answered.
I am a trained OHA but take contract work alongside a contracted OHP and i have a case in which a post employment offer health questionaire was sent to us to screen a new recruit to work as an (OHA) inhouse. On the form the OHA declared various MSDs and stress and depression but said on a phone call that has fully recovered and states fit for work that has been offered ( the offer was subject to medical clearance). On discussion no role modification required and the employees own GP said fit to work.
The case above was discussed with OHP who said the new recruit must not be cleared and and requested that the employee see him but the employee is now annoyed because was under the impression after discussion with me that fit for work- and yes i did wish goodluck as i did not see any reason why cannot work- health problems resolved and undertaking mostly sedentary role. Is the OH Physician justified in this approach? Are we not suppose to support employment as per Dame Carol Black's Documents , NICE & EA 2010?
Katie
