Dear all
The Yorkshire Dales Lead Mining Museum will be closing soon. The Yorkshire Dales National Park have agreed to take all the artifacts at their Dales Countryside Museum in the old Station Yard at Hawes in Wensleydale.
This will put the artifacts back in the center of the area where most were collected and make them easily accessible to locals and visitors alike. There will be some delay before they can be displayed but hopefully it will not be too long. Subject to a planning application they hope to erect the water wheel and crushers near the side of the railway line.
There will still be chance to see the collection at the old Grammar School in Earby (between Skipton and Colne) for the next month and possibly the next two months before we have to start packing up.
We need all the support we can get, there are minerals for sale and a few copies of Clough's book The Lead Smelting Mills of Yorkshire Dales 1st edition mint condition
