The Institute of Environment, Health and Societies at Brunel University London is seeking a suitably qualified researcher for a two year project exploring the interface between the development and uptake of a pioneering cochlear implant robotic surgery tool. The project forms part of a Wellcome Trust Biomedical Ethics and Society Strategic Award focusing on the social, ethical and clinical aspects of experimental neuroscience, headed by PI Professor Clare Williams.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline such as medical sociology, science and technology studies or medical anthropology. S/he will have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; experience of undertaking ethnographic fieldwork including conducting and analysing qualitative interviews and observational work; the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders; and a track record of peer reviewed publications. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic researcher to contribute to the study of an innovative medical technology.
