MA DOCUMENTARY JOURNALISM, CBJ, Nottingham Trent University, starting October 2015.
Next Open Day June 10 2-4pm CHR3704
A new practice based programme with a global perspective, which includes linear forms of documentary and emerging mixed media hybrids.
In one double through module students produce a radio doc, an in depth profile and a film with comprehensive training on a range of linear and online production softwares.
A Visual Journalism module involves photojournalism with multi-media and graphics, photo slideshows and a range of new web tools for documentary
A genre module focusses on the different forms of documentary, including experimental forms of the sort being commissioned by Guardian Docs, NY Times, Vice News etc.
Plus students take an independent supervised module called Multiplatform Project and Media Law which includes the dos and don’ts of covert filming.
The programme will set up a Production Company through which students can pitch and make docs, some of which will go out on Notts TV and Notts TV online. The whole programme will be located around industry commissioning processes as well as emerging independent practices like crowdfunding and social media distribution. We will work to live briefs, with a view to fielding student work to Documentary Festivals and the like, worldwide.
We will also bring in craft editors, directors, interactive documentary producers and commissioning editors currently running these areas at the sharp end.
