Date: 8 April 2015 from 17.45 to 19.45 (AGM starts at 18.15)
Venue: CILIP, 7 Ridgmount Street, London, WCIE 7AE

The brief AGM will be preceded by drinks and light nibbles and followed by a talk to be given by Martyn Wade OBE, CILIP Chair of Council, Chair of IFLA FAIFE Committee and past National Librarian of Scotland.
Martyn will be talking about his role within IFLA’s committee on Freedom of Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (FAIFE). He is an enthusiastic and committed supporter for the right to free access to information and the entitlement to learning and education.
Martyn started as a Trainee Librarian in the County Reference Library in Northumberland and worked for a number of authorities until he was appointed as Head of Libraries, Information and Learning in Glasgow City Council in 1999. In 2002 Martyn was the first public librarian to be appointed as National Librarian and Chief Executive of the National Library of Scotland. In 2010 he was appointed Honorary Fellow of the Department of Information Studies, University of Aberystwyth, and in 2011 Honorary Professor at Robert Gordon University.
He was awarded an OBE in this January’s New Year’s Honours list.
IFLA FAIFE
The overall objective of FAIFE is to raise awareness of the essential correlation between the library concept and the values of intellectual freedom. To reach this goal, FAIFE collects and disseminates documentation and aims to stimulate a dialog both within and outside the library world. Find out more at http://www.ifla.org/faife
