Dear Colleagues,
My lab currently has a postdoctoral position available in membrane protein biochemistry/structural biology to work on the structure and function of bacterial integral membrane transition metal transporters and their potential as novel targets for antibiotic development. The position is funded until the end of 2017 by the NHMRC and is a collaborative project with Dr Christopher McDevitt at the University of Adelaide.
Our lab is housed in the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science building, which was opened in 2013 (http://www.latrobe.edu.au/lims/) and is very well equipped with facilities for large scale cell culture, protein purification and characterisation, in addition to robotics for protein crystallisation. We are located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, which in 2014 was named the world's most liveable city for the fourth year in a row, by the Economist Intelligence Unit's liveability survey of 140 cities. Importantly, for protein crystallographers, our lab is a short 40 minute drive from the beamlines at the Australian Synchrotron.
