Hallo everyone
I've just joined the group and looking forward to sociological discussions of the arts.
My main interest is in the sociology of creativity, but as a fine arts enthusiast and amateur painter, that mostly means visual art creativity. My theoretical approach is new materialist and Deleuzian. I've got a couple of papers out if anyone is interested.
Fox, N.J. (2013) Creativity, anti-humanism and the 'new sociology of art'. Journal of Sociology. doi:10.1177/1440783313498947
Fox, N.J. (2013). Creativity and health: an anti-humanist reflection. Health. 17(5): 495–511.
Both can be downloaded from my Academia page.
I'm keen to try to get to grips with creativity as an embodied and social process, without getting caught up in either psychologism or in a sociology of art structures (Bourdieu, Becker).
Best
Nick
