Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance are looking for volunteers to help with a Dance digitisation project in the Faculty of Dance, based in our award-winning building on Creekside between Deptford and Greenwich in South East London.
This involves digitising a range of analogue recordings of approx 600 Dance performances to master files and viewing copies; accurately cataloguing details of the performances, monitoring recording quality; and making viewing copies available on the Institution’s media streaming service. The project is being led by the Library and Archive’s AV/IT Advisor, Ian Peppiatt, but will also involve interaction with the Faculty of Dance’s archivist and other Library and Archive staff.
This opportunity offers broad experience in audio-visual digitisation of an archival collection, and will offer learning about a methodology for preserving analogue content for future generations. It would be of particular interest/relevance to someone looking to start a course in a relevant area (Digital archiving) with an interest in Dance.
It is anticipated that this project will take 9-12 months, and we’d ideally like people to commit to at least 1 or 2 days per week for a minimum of 2 months. We’d ask those who’d be interested for more intensive periods (such as 3+ days a week) to commit to a minimum of 3 weeks.
