Lecturer in Data Science
The Department of Statistics at the University of Auckland invites applications for a position as Lecturer in Data Science. Applicants should have or be about to complete a PhD in Statistics, or other relevant discipline, pursuing research in inference or learning methods that involve computation on large-scale and complex data. Applicants from other branches of statistics with a strong interest in data science may also be considered. A record of successful consulting or collaboration with applied researchers would be advantageous.
The successful applicant will be expected to collaborate with other members of the department, and with researchers in other fields, as well as establishing their own research portfolio that attracts external funding and doctoral students. They will also be expected to teach in the Department's academic program at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to supervise research projects for Honours and Masters students. The Department co-teaches a Masters degree in Data Science, and contributions to its development and teaching would be expected.
