This tends to happen too late in the process, so people get asked to test things that have already been designed, rather than being involved in the specification
My point is that the involvement should be from the beginning and this never seems to happen. Every system introduced, certainly in the 15 years I have been in HE, has ended up being some way short of what is needed.
Given that the SLC are now undertaking the transformation of all of their systems, there is an opportunity to get it right first time and to get systems in place that meet the needs of users.

Hi David,
I appreciate that the lack of a finished product can be frustrating to operate with but I think I do have to correct you on lack of consultation on the new system.
A user group was set up specifically and the usability testing has been extensive and still continues, to my knowledge. This input has resulted in significant change being introduced to the original design. I believe Hull have specifically been involved in this. Unfortunately a one size fits all doesn't exist for the sector.
