I can understand the SLC perspective on this but what I think continues to be a concern is that this happens every time SLC introduce a new system.
There seems to be no real consultation with users before a system is designed or any notion of user acceptance testing before it gets released. This means that there are always some significant problems and adds to the considerable frustration that HEI's feel.
With most system design there should be an agreed specification, that the users have signed off on, and this never seemed to happen with SLC systems. Something is introduced, we then have to use work rounds for a number of years, until we finally get close to a usable system.
I think people understand the constraints that SLC work under, most of us are used to working with less resources than we would like, but this makes it more important that they get things right first time.

Subject: Re: SROC session SLC Q&A
Hi all,
One thing to appreciate with the new system is that it is constantly in development. We are not seeing a finalised product and SLC have been delivering a basic product initially to meet the needs of the process and have then consistently provided further functionality.
Promotion was identified as a painpoint of the old system so this was why it was removed from the new system, so it may be that now this has been raised they will try to accommodate more of a qa element or find a way to improve the closure/permanently delete functions.
