PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EDP Sciences to preserve Journals with Portico

Key journals will be preserved in perpetuity through Portico’s deep archive

Paris, 14 March 2015: EDP Sciences is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with Portico to provide a permanent archive of the e-content for many of their key journals. Through this agreement, institutions participating in Portico’s E-Journal PreservationService will be assured continued access to EDP Sciences content for generations of their scholars in the future.

EDP Sciences joins an increasing list of publishers who have entrusted their e-journals to the Portico archive and provides surety that their content will remain secure and accessible into the future independent of availability on the EDP Sciences website.

Jean-Marc Quilbé, President of EDP Sciences says “As a publishing company with almost a century’s experience, EDP Sciences understands how important long-term preservation of its content is to ensure that it remains accessible regardless of what happens in the future. Providing a permanent archive of e-journal content is a service highly valued by the Librarians and Consortia Managers we work with and we are therefore delighted to now be partnering with Portico.”

Stephanie Orphan, director of Publisher Relations at Portico commented, “We are very pleased that EDP Sciences is now joining the many associations, societies and publishers entrusting materials to the Portico archive and we look forward to working with them.”

EDP partners with prestigious societies, publishers and prominent academics and publishes over 55 scientific journals across the fields of physical sciences, astronomy, mathematics, life and environmental sciences, energy, materials sciences and engineering, health and biomedical sciences. Current data will be sent to Portico as soon as the e-journal is published, and a full list of the journals committed to the Portico archive is available at http://www.portico.org/digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-publishers/edp.
