Hi Nick
Northumbria university - Students requiring a support worker are allocated to an individual room with an invigilator .
The exam, room and invigilator are organised by the exams team to ensure that regulation and procedure are followed, the support worker is provided by Student services and wellbeing.
Cheers

Subject: Amanuensis and invigilation
A number of our invigilators are support workers who are able to act as an amanuensis if needed. Please could you let me know if your institution requires an invigilator to be present in addition to the amanuensis in an assessment where the student is not known to the amanuensis and the assessment is being carried out in a separate room?
I'm happy to provide a summary of responses if requested.
Kind regards,
Nick
