At Middlesex University we have invigilators in addition to scribes.
We used to have the scribe act as an invigilator but after meeting with our Disability Support Service they wished for invigilators to be present to ensure that the exams were run in accordance with the regulations and for the invigilator to be present to ensure that students were not given additional guidance/help in an exam.
Many thanks

Subject: Amanuensis and invigilation
A number of our invigilators are support workers who are able to act as an amanuensis if needed. Please could you let me know if your institution requires an invigilator to be present in addition to the amanuensis in an assessment where the student is not known to the amanuensis and the assessment is being carried out in a separate room?
I'm happy to provide a summary of responses if requested.
Kind regards,
Nick
