I'm not generally a fan of Vendor guides, but just flicking through that cisco guide - definitely some good reading in there! And pretty vendor agnostic.

Most of the vendors have some very good docs about design deployment. Usually written by some top people. I think the Cisco one was written by Jim Florwick:
