An article in the Guardian about a BBC initiative relating to disabled people reminded me of a similar initiative in 1992, which, like this year, was also a general election year. In looking at the main political party manifestoes for that year I was reminded of how different policy approaches towards disabled people were then compared with today - particularly in the case of the Conservative Party. The terms of public discourse were also very different.

Hope no-one minds me posting this but I thought it might be of interest to some. It might be interesting to compare other policy areas between the two general election years of 1992 and 2015 but I suspect the contrasting approaches to disability are particularly stark.
