RAS ONLINE VIDEOS

Online videos of RAS talks are now available.

The RAS is pleased to announce that we are making videos of talks at our meetings available online. Interested viewers can subscribe to the RAS YouTube channel, or visit the events & meetings area of our website.
We hope this initiative will make the Society's programme of meetings available to a broader audience, including those unable to travel to Burlington House in London.

National Astronomy Meeting 2015 incorporating the MIST and UKSP meetings.

The abstract submission is now open for the 2015 Royal Astronomical Society National Astronomy Meeting (NAM), which will be held in Llandudno during 5th-9th July 2015.

The largest part of the NAM science programme is the collection of parallel sessions, each on a different scientific topic. The session chairs will welcome submission of abstracts from anyone
interested in presenting a talk or a poster. Please see the Science Programme section on our website, nam2015.org, for a full description of each parallel session. To submit your abstract please use the form that is available from the Science Programme submenu "Submit Abstract". The abstract deadline is Wednesday 1st April 2015.

Details of the Plenary talks are also available from the Science Programme section. An outline conference programme is displayed, a detailed programme giving the day and times of each parallel session will be posted on the website shortly.

It is expected that conference registration will be open by Wednesday 4th March.

The RAS has negotiated with the Tourist Information Office to ensure you get the best deal for your individual accommodation needs while attending NAM 2015. RAS JOURNALS NEWS

Author Workshop at NAM2015
A Workshop for MNRAS authors will be held during NAM 2015 on Wednesday 8th July. The workshop is aimed at early-career astronomers looking to publish their research. It will include advice on how to write a good paper, the submission and review process, dealing with referee reports, the production process, copyright and ethics. The session will be run by MNRAS journal staff and publisher, Oxford University Press.

Editorial Office vacancy:
The RAS is looking to appoint an additional Assistant Editor to process research papers submitted for publication to MNRAS. This is an administrative position which involves using a web-based submission and tracking system and handling the resulting correspondence with authors, scientific editors, referees and the publisher. For full details see http://www.ras.org.uk/news-and-press/2590-job-vacancy-assistant-editor-mnras Application deadline 20 March 2015

CALL FOR ARTICLES FOR ASTRONOMY AND GEOPHYSICS

Have you considered writing an article about your work for the Society's magazine, Astronomy and Geophysics?

The Editor is looking for news items and topical review papers, communicating advances in your field to the many interested fellows working in related areas within the RAS sciences. If you wish to write a review paper, the Editor is looking for up to 6000 words plus figures and images,
discussing an aspect of science within the RAS remit. A&G does not publish original research, but rather authors should refer to key publications in the peer reviewed literature. Although a serious scientific core to articles is expected, the Editor also likes papers that engage and intrigue, as well as inform, the reader.

If you are interested in writing for A&G, please do not hesitate to contact the Editor, Dr Sue Bowler, at [log in to unmask], or simply submit your manuscript at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/astrogeo
