Subject: story
a wall juddering, bone crack, circular white
hole in a white square, wall a room, square room
in square block; expanding; the sun yellow;
it seems much like tins of white; and dazzles;
colour drains into him from the surroundings;
he sweats; shuddering, he goes against his heart's
escalator; be still, but keep on though
pumping! a mounting stream; circle widens
in memory as attributes reverse;
in old envelopes in photograph-albums
negative persons discuss their situations
under a reversed sky, owing money;
a man exposes himself to the new camera;
but no one pays attention, apart, that is
from the camera, which is an expert system;
none of them have souls; thick cloud; one could be
floating; lack of oxygen; small tidy square,
unoccupied tables waiting to be cleared;
a badly-finished door, cross-hatch of brush marks
running water sound; the street illustrates
failures of the townscape to cohere, images
unbelievable: frontages, ink pen
suggestions; various tales of people
depicted; vehicular traffic swelling;
meltwater; a man holding a girl roughly
by the neck, shouting do as you're fuckin' told,
a child holding his other hand, crying;
woman goes by in a short skirt, clutching
a diploma, or some fancy paper
stepping off the pavement most definitely
one foot at a time dreaming of her lover,
worrying about her husband: I am fine,
darling, fine; how is your boss? Oh, he's ok,
you know, as always, but all right; door locked,
meeting in progress it says; the other staff
talking; got my diploma through today;
good, good; better talk about a rise then;
jet engine whining, every thing shaking
