Dear All,
Do you know whether there is a function in Ox that allows you to instruct a built-in routine to discard a particular argument?
For example, for more efficient computation of second moment matrices and their inverses, I want to make use of ols2c, which has room for five arguments, the first two being the proverbial y and X, followed by a reference to a coefficient matrix, an inverted second moment matrix and a non-inverted second moment matrix.
I want to 'abuse' the olsc function to generate moment matrices for me but I am obviously not interested in coefficient, nor am I interested in any particular y. In some languages you can simply place a ~ (tilde) in place of the argument to tell it to discard the output you don't care about.
My workaround is to create a vector of zeroes for y and to simply embed this in a separate function which has only local variables to save on memory.
I would greatly appreciate your advice!
Kind regards,
Jerome
