Despite many years in OH I continue to struggle with the interpretation of the DSE regulations in relation to a chair not having a back which alters its height independently to the seat pan NOR has an additional moveable lumbar support.
I am aware that it is not necessary for the height of the seat back to be adjusted independently of the seat pan but in these cases isn't it essential to have an additional adjustable back support even if the mesh bask is shaped itself...as otherwise I cant see how the support can be postioned in the right place.
Several of my clients have brought super mesh chairs but have opted to purchase these without the additional lumbar support to save cost. I'd like to put forward a case for these to be added but do I refer to this as being 'best practice' or can I correctly say that its needed in order to comply with the DSE regs?
I have tried to talk to furniture supliers but they are a little cagey about this.
Thanks for any help.
