Dear Paul
Many thanks indeed for your rapid reply. I think we are at a stage before being formally refereed as the volunteer who has written a draft has a Zoology degree from quite a few years ago and has no experience of writing a formal paper. I will 'tart it up' a bit and then, if I may, send it to you for advice as I am sure we will need some! While I have written papers for journals like Journal of Zoology, my experience of slides is very limited.
with best wishes
Jill

Dear Jill,
I have worked in the field of microscope slide conservation, curation and collections management and would be willing to referee such a paper mentioned below, as this would be suitable for our journal!
I have a few papers available on the NatSCA website on microscope slides at http://www.natsca.org/journal-articles/154, http://www.natsca.org/article/316 and at http://www.natsca.org/article/321
Best wishes,
Paul A Brown

Dear Jan
The Museum of Life Sciences at King's College London is a relatively new museum - open to staff and students and for some exhibitions and open days for only 5 years and not yet to the public as we are still getting straight and getting the specimens catalogued and displayed. Most of the specimens were acquired for teaching in our various constituent colleges - probably for the best part of 150+ years. One of our volunteers has done some stirling work cataloguing, cleaning, sorting, storing and researching our microscope slide collection and has found some interesting specimens. We were wondering about the possibility of writing up her work and experience as a volunteer for the Natsca journal. It would show the processes we went through in getting the slides organised and give information on some of our more intersting specimens. It seems you have some articles verging on this. We have some references mainly to in-house material but few to more widespread processes and publicatons. Is this the sort of thing you might be interested in? If so is it possible to send a draft for someone to advise on before we formally submit? I know the folk at the Grant Museum quite well and use them a lot for advice so any other sources gratefully received before I bother them yet again.
best wishes
Jill
