Dear Colleagues:
We are pleased to announce that a symposium “Recent Progress in Matrix Isolation Species” (#199) will be held as a part of Pacifichem 2015 (The International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies) on December 17th(Thu) and 18th(Fri), 2015, in the Hawaii Convention Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
http://www.pacifichem.org/symposiadesc2015/c_symp_199.htm
This symposium will focus on current hot topic areas in matrix isolation spectroscopy such as (1) the application of quantum matrix hosts such as solid parahydrogen and superfluid helium nanodroplets, (2) tunneling-driven chemistry of radicals and ions under low temperature conditions, (3) laboratory searches for important species in interstellar space and the atmosphere, and (4) the low temperature spectroscopy of increasingly complex bio-related molecules. This symposium will serve as a forum for researchers with interests in the physics and chemistry of matrix isolation spectroscopy to meet and exchange ideas in an effort to foster new international collaborations between Pacific Rim countries.
The list of confirmed invited speakers is:
Ara Apkarian (Univ. California, Irvine, USA), Claudine Crepin (Institut des Sciences Moléculaires d’Orsay, France), Gary Douberly (Univ. Georgia, USA), Benny Gerber (Univ. California, Irvine, USA), Robert J. Hinde (University of Tennessee, USA), Wolfgang Jager (Univ. Alberta, Canada), Mark Johnson (Yale Univ, USA), Ralf Kaiser (Univ. Hawaii, USA), Hideto Kanamori (Tokyo Inst. Tech. Japan), John P. Maier (Univ. Basel, Switzerland), Akira Nakayama (Hokkaido University, Japan), Scott A Reid (Marquette Univ. USA), György Tarczay (Eötvös Univ., Hungary), Gert von Helden (Fritz Haber Institute, Berlin, Germany), and Yu-Jong Wu (National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, Taiwan).
Slots for contributed talks and poster presentations are available. Please encourage your colleagues, students and post-docs to submit abstracts for session #199. Submission of abstracts is open at the URL:

until April 3, 2015. We look forward to meeting you in Hawaii.
Sincerely,
