Hi All,
A reminder that the deadline for paper proposals for the MCG Spring Event in Cambridge is this Sunday 15 March 2015.
The theme of the day will be 'Innovation': the Emperor's new clothes?
http://museumscomputergroup.org.uk/2015/02/27/innovation-emperors-new-clothes-call-proposals-mcg-spring-meeting-14-may-2015-cambridge/
Some projects get described as 'innovative' while others don't. There is often pressure from funders, senior management and elsewhere that projects be 'innovative'. But what counts as innovation - by definition new for some and not for others? Does the focus on innovation encourage reinvention of the wheel for the sake of it; dressing up existing ideas as innovative in order to appeal to funders? Do innovative projects have to be useful as well as just new? What kind of short and long term impact do innovative projects have on organisations? How can we evaluate innovative projects, and how can we valuate projects innovatively?
We are seeking paper proposals from colleagues willing to share their experience working on innovative projects: in what sense was the project innovative, what worked well, what were the challenges, what have you learnt from the project, what would you do differently next time? We would also welcome session focused on debunking the 'cult' of innovation.
We prefer papers with a practical focus that will give delegates concrete ideas to take away and use in their own projects and practice; though reflective presentation are also welcome.
To make a submission please complete this form: http://bit.ly/MCGspringEvent2015. We will let you know by the end of March whether your application has been successful.
We look forward to hearing from you.
