Dear all,
I mentioned last month that we were working away revamping Royal Collection Trust's 'Collection Online' search facility. We received some really useful advice on how we might go about serving up records for objects with numerous images attached, and are still working through how we will implement that in the next phase of our development.
We are pleased to be able to say, however, that we have been able to launch the new responsive Collection site this week (very softly, to allow us to continue to iron out flaws!), at www.royalcollection.org.uk/collection, with the search at www.royalcollection.org.uk/collection/search.
This is the second, and by far the largest, section of our website to be turned responsive, and we hope to move the rest of the site over gradually in the coming year.
Hopefully those of you who had visited our old site will consider this an improvement - we do! - but we'd be delighted to hear any thoughts/comments on where we might improve, or functionality that we might look to introduce.
In the coming year, we will be looking to greatly increase the content of the site, and to introduce different routes into the collection, other than just Collection search, including a map interface, curated narratives around groups in the collection, as well as selections from our academic publishing back catalogue.
Kind regards all - and as we are winding down into Friday afternoon, have a lovely, if one hour shorter, weekend!
Andrew
