Thank you very much for all the responses I have received so far.
A lot of teachers/pre-teachers have shown interest in detailed information for A level teaching and the examination. I feel that I need to clarify a few things here first:
As the event is a two hour gathering only, there will not be any workshops or training. The gathering is aimed at providing an opportunity for A-level teachers to share their practical teaching experiences and discuss the current situation of the Chinese A level exam to help us get a better understanding of the key barriers/issues of offering Chinese A level. Therefore it would be appropriate if you have some understanding/experience teaching Chinese at A level.
Facing the prospect of A level reform, I hope that most teachers have already realised that such change is not only extremely crucial for our students but also for Chinese teachers as well. A question WE as Chinese teachers could ask ourselves now is “what we can do to help A-level become more practical and accessible for students” (especially the non-native students), it may well be time all of us have some input for the future of Chinese education in the UK.
You’re welcome to drop me an email if you would like to know more about Chinese A-level. I am more than happy to organise a workshop or training for A level in the near future if sufficient interest is shown. However, please bear in mind that A level will be reformed in two years’ time(first exam 2019) and also there are always some organisations providing great workshop/training for A level such as UKAPCE and UKFCS, as well as Edexcel itself.
Kind regards,
