We are delighted to announce a one-day postgraduate conference on comparative employment and industrial relations, sponsored by Artsmethods@manchester and the NWDTC Interdisciplinary fund to be held at The University of Manchester on Friday, June 19, 2015.
The conference will consists of three separate, consecutive panels of postgraduate researchers.
It will be preceded by a keynote speech by Prof. Melanie Simms (University of Leicester,
http://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/management/people/msimms , an established academic in
union organising and youth employment issues.
We welcome individual paper proposals addressing any aspect of the following:
· precarious employment (papers exploring the precarity risk among highly educated,
skilled professionals will be particularly welcome) and fairness at work;
· trade unions and union revitalisation strategies;
· social welfare and employability policies.
Papers will be allotted up to 20 minute slots, plus 10 minutes Q&A. Interested participants
should submit an abstract of up to 250 words and their institutional affiliation to

by Monday, May 4, 2015.
