Dear All,
The next sessions to be offered by The National Archives as part of our Postgraduate Archival Skills Training (PAST) are now available to book online. Each of our research teams – Medieval, Early Modern, Modern Britain and Modern Overseas – are offering six level-3 records workshops between 21 April and 14 May 2015 on a variety of subjects.
The PAST page on our website (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/about/records-workshops.htm) provides information about the programme being offered by each team and links to the booking page for each module. The booking pages provide further detail about the content of each session.
These workshops are the most in depth training we offer and are aimed at 1st year PhD students and above. While students can select which modules they wish to sign up for, the programme has been design to work as a whole, and it is recommended that students attend as many sessions as possible to gain the most from their experience. In some cases specific recommendations have been made regarding co-ordinating the modules.
The records workshops will provide students with detailed research guidance on key document collections and topics. During each session students will receive in-depth information on a range of record series, their context and administrative background, along with practical document interpretation exercises.
If you require further information or have questions about the programme please do not hesitate to contact the PAST co-ordinator Dr Laura Tompkins at [log in to unmask]
