Call for paper and panel proposals for Anthropology Southern Africa's annual conference, “Ethnography and Worlds Otherwise”, which will take place at Northwest University, Potchefstroom from 30 August to 3 September 2015
The organisers invite abstracts and panel submissions that explore the continuities and departures in Southern African anthropology’s engagement with local attempts to create worlds otherwise and with the contextual dynamics with which such attempts often conflict. Proposals should include abstracts of no more than 250 words. For panel proposals, please include a list of prospective participants and their institutional affiliations if these have already been identified. Evans-Pritchard Lectureship. Closing date 17 April 2015
Applications are invited for the Evans-Pritchard Lectureship during the academic year 2015-2016. The lecturer will deliver a series of four to six lectures in the course of a month, based on field work or other indigenous primary materials concerning Africa, the Middle East or the Mediterranean, and offering an empirical analysis of social relations. Scholars in the fields of social anthropology, classical studies, archaeology, modern history and oriental studies are eligible and, other things being equal, the electors will prefer a person at the beginning or middle of their career. It is hoped that the lectures will be published in book form. For more information see:
