*Graduate Student Workshop with Paul Farmer (Harvard & Partners in Health)*
*KCL - London, 20th April 2015*
*“**Failure to Collide: Ebola and Modern Medicine, 2014”*
King’s College London will be hosting a UNDP Kapuscinski Development
Lecture given by the world-renowned medical doctor and anthropologist *Paul
Farmer* on 20 April 2015 titled *“**Failure to Collide: Ebola and Modern
Medicine, 2014”* .
Prior to the evening lecture, the Department of Social Science, Health and
Medicine will host a *Graduate Student Workshop* for *15 UK graduate
students* to engage in direct discussion and intellectual exchange with
Prof. Farmer about his most current scholarly research. The discussion
will initially be motivated by one his most recent publications or work in
progress that will be circulated beforehand to the selected participants.
The Workshop will take place on *20 April 2015 from 10:00-13:00* at King’s
College London, Strand Campus.
If you would like to apply for a place at the Workshop, please submit a
brief abstract outlining your dissertation topic and how it relates to Paul
Farmer’s scholarly work related to (global) health inequities, preferential
options for the poor, human rights, structural violence, et cetera.
The application *must* include an abstract of no more than *250 words,* three
keywords, and one page cv. Please submit your maximum two pages to Ms.
Paola Bello at [log in to unmask] by *16 March 2015, 5pm*.
Selected applications will be notified by the end of day on 25 March 2015,
and provided with additional necessary information. All applicants and
interested students are encouraged to separately register to attend the
evening lecture.
