We are delighted to invite you to King’s College London for the 2015 Burwalls meeting, a historical annual meeting for all current and new teachers of medical statistics to undergraduate or postgraduate students in medicine, nursing or health care professionals.
The aim of the meeting is to encourage and equip those responsible for teaching medical statistics and evidence based medicine, and is the only event of its kind in the UK. The meeting is also an opportunity to meet/network with others working in the same area, find out what other medical schools are doing and pick up a few tips. It was held for many years at Burwalls in Bristol but is now peripatetic.
This year invited speakers include Professor Janet Peacock (King’s College London), Professor Sue Todd (University of Reading) and Dr. Philip Sedgwick (St George's University of London). The detailed programme will be available on the website (http://medstats.org.uk/) in due course .
Costs are similar to last year, £180 for non-residential delegates (includes all meals) and £280 for residential delegates (includes all meals and accommodation within Guy’s campus (London Bridge)). An extra charge of £20 will be added for late registration (after 30 April 2015).
Early bird registration is now open. Please register at http://estore.kcl.ac.uk/browse/extra_info.asp?compid=1&modid=2&deptid=17&catid=16&prodid=504
In addition to pre-arranged talks, we would like to open it up to others to contribute orally or as a poster. The meeting is informal and talks can relate to any element of teaching statistics or evidence based medicine. Topics of interest including tips on new teaching methods, improving consultancy skills, a statistics software review session in relation to teaching non-statisticians, and an overview of the statistics topics being taught in the different UK medical schools.
