Call For Papers
CFP: Digital Humanities: Transformative Landscapes
The University of Derby #digitalderby
Date of Conference: 26 June 2015
Confirmed Keynote Speaker: Dr Lucy Collins (University College Dublin)
Location: The Enterprise Conference Centre, Derby.
The field of Digital Humanities is an expanding architecture of knowledge that has grown out of computer science. Digital methodologies offer the Humanities new tools with which to explore the relationship between the self and the social and cultural spheres. For instance where archives have previously been inaccessible to the public, digital technology re-produces them for open access. Similarly, AR is challenging our sense of reality through its interactive capacity. At the same time the popularity of fanzines, e-readers and blogs are redefining the borders of authorship, as the landscape through which meaning is constructed is re-imagined. In the age of the Anthropocene, technology has become an invaluable tool in the telling of the human story and cyberspace is the extending frontier of existence.
This one day conference welcomes 15 minute papers, creative practice and AR posters which explore the nature of Digital Humanities. Areas of interest may be, but are not solely restricted to:
Affective landscapes
Augmented Reality (AR)
Virtual Reality: Virtual lives and vicarious living
Cybertextuality: Cyberspace and cyberbodies
Textual infidelities and e-readers
Blogs and fanzines
History and Hypertexts
Multi-sensory experiences
Digital resources and the study of Humanities
