How do journalists manage to operate in the most challenging and hostile environments? How do they get close up to the action and get the news out to the world. As one of the BBC’s senior international journalists UCLAN practioner-in-residence Peter Burdin has worked with many of the BBC’s top war correspondents like Jeremy Bowen, John Simpson, Fergal Keane and Allan Little.
He has led teams of journalists in war-zones from Iraq and Gaza in the Middle East, to Bosnia and Kosovo in Europe, and Somalia, Rwanda, and Nigeria in Africa. He has witnessed how correspondents, producers and cameramen cope with the trauma of war and go on to deliver award-winning journalism.
Peter has won several Sony Awards for his journalism. In addition to a 28 year career in International News he is a University of Michigan Journalism Fellow and a Fellow of the DART Society For The Study Of Violence And Trauma.
