Apologies for cross posting
I previously posted this a couple of weeks ago but I thought I'd re-post it once the school holidays were over.
I would appreciate if lists members could share with me their current retention schedule for building control and planning records.
One of the problems I have is that the current guidance issued by the DCLG (' Building Control Performance Standards', 2014) states that records should be retained for 15 years. The guidance does not state if this is from application or practical completion. Industry practice seems to be its 15 years from practical completion, however, 20 - 30% of applicants never get as far as practical completion. I would like to know how other authorities tackle this issue.
With regard to planning records, what are other authorities permanently retaining, if anything?
Regards,
Nicola
