Save the Date - Getting Best Value from College Licences
When: Thursday 26 February 2015
Where: College Development Network - Stirling
Cost: Free
Colleges in Scotland pay significant sums to a range of licensors to facilitate legal use of copyright resources for educational purposes. As learning delivery has moved from a paper based to an increasingly digital environment, practitioners are often unclear about what they can and cannot do under the terms of these licences. This event provides a platform for the major licensors to provide an overview of their licences, with an opportunity for college staff to ask questions. Confirmed speakers include the Copyright Licensing Agency (who administer both the CLA and the Newspaper Licences), ERA, BUFVC and Jisc Collections. The event will also include a session on how copyright resources can be made accessible to the widest possible audience in colleges. Finally, delegates will have an opportunity to participate in an open discussion session chaired by CDN's Copyright Advisor, Alan Rae.
This free event will be of interest to college library staff, learning technologists and those with responsibility for managing licences. Academic staff who create content using copyright/3rd party resources will also find it useful.
Registration will open soon and will be via the College Development Network site. In the meantime, save the date.
